Home » About BPD » Police Athletic League Police Athletic LeagueThe Police Athletic League of Buffalo is a not-for profit human services agency providing athletic, social, educational, recreational and preventive programming for youth in the City of Buffalo and the surrounding communities. Activities include summer fall and winter basketball leagues, summer baseball leagues, summer “Cops & Kids Camps and Clinics” (golf & tennis), “Learn To Skate” programs, along with daily program activity at seven community centers located in the city. A daily boxing program, a youth race during the Subaru Run, and a Bike Safety & Helmet Giveaway program are some of the other activities conducted during the year. Incorporating police officers in many of their activities, PAL demonstrates a positive relationship between youth and law enforcement personnel. PAL also provides family oriented activities such as a New Year’s Eve Ball Drop in downtown Buffalo, assists in the February Pond Hockey Tournament on Buffalo’s Waterfront, and conducts the annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. The PAL also assists with the Buffalo Sabres Alumni annual Christmas present delivery. In order to provide activities for up to approximately 20,000 youth, PAL conducts the annual fund-raising PAL sticker campaign throughout the year, beginning each January. Other fund-raisers include a Spring Golf Clinic at the Wehrle Golf Dome and a Gala Auction held at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens in November. Donations can be made to the Police Athletic League at 65 Niagara Square, 21st Floor, Buffalo, New York 14202. To learn more about PAL and the youth activities currently on-going in your neighborhood, call 716-851-4615 or visit their website at http://www.buffalopal.com.
