Youth Academy set for October 20th

Police Commissioner H. McCarthy Gipson announces the 13th annual Youth Police Academy for 7th and 8th graders. Coordinated by the Citizen Advisory Group-to the Police Commissioner, the Academy offers a one-day opportunity for students to hear from Police Officers about avoiding drugs, gangs and weapons and the repercussions associated with criminal behavior. The FBI will instruct the students on cyber crimes, and the NFTA Police and School Security will talk about train and bus safety. The event is October 20th at 9am at Buffalo Police Headquarters in the second floor academy.

The Academy is free of charge, and applications are available via the Principal’s office at Buffalo Public, Private and Charter Schools or by calling 851-4523. The program is first come, first serve and can accept the first 100 students who return their applications.

The Youth Police Academy is sponsored by the Buffalo Police Department, FBI Foundation, Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, West Side Community Services, and Citizen Preparedness Centers.
