UB Alert - Timely Warning from University Police

An incident has occurred on or near a University at Buffalo campus that may pose a continuing threat to the university community. This warning is provided so that you may take whatever action is deemed necessary for your safety.

Buffalo Police are investigating a strong-armed robbery that occurred on November 19, 2009 at about 10:25 p.m. on Main Street at Englewood Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The suspect is described as a black male, 5' 4" tall, wearing dark clothing, and a white and gray knit cap. The suspect may have followed the victim from the Main Circle bus stop down to Main Street and forcibly stole the victim’s purse.

Buffalo Police have informed University Police that they have had several robberies reported where the victims were all wearing large gold hoop earrings and have asked us to share this information with our community as well.

To protect yourself, remember to stay alert to your surroundings and always travel with other people. When possible, use the Anti-Rape Task Force Safety Escort program or other UB transportation services. Call 829-2584 for escort program information or go to their Web site at healtheducation.buffalo.edu.

Members of the community are urged to be vigilant at all times. Report any unusual circumstances or suspicious persons and activities to the University Police as soon as possible.
