BPD Make Arrest in Mid-November Homicide

A Buffalo man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the city's 51st homicide this year. 41 year old Dwain Walker, listing a Kingsley Street address, was charged by homicide squad detectives on Friday, November 26th. "The suspect turned himself in, at police headquarters, this morning," according to Dennis J. Richards, Chief of Detectives.

Walker was charged in connection with the homicide that occurred at around 7pm on November 17th in the victim's upper apartment. The victim, 48 year old Sammy Cooley, had been severely cut with glass stemware, and died as a result of his injuries.

Walker was charged by Homicide Squad Detective Sergeant David M. Lillis and Detectives Mark J. Lauber and Noreen E. Walsh, with one count of manslaughter in the second degree. The detectives had conferred with the District Attorney's office regarding the findings of their investigation, and the appropriate charge against the suspect.

Walker had been the subject of a police pick-up order, since shortly after the incident on Lonsdale Road.
