Fourteen Promoted During BPD Ceremony

A new police chief and two new captains hilited the latest promotions within the Buffalo Police Department.

Mayor Byron W. Brown and Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda presided over the promotional ceremony inside a packed Training Academy on Tuesday, November 9th.

The overflow crowd of family, friends and co-workers were on hand as fourteen members of the department received promotions.

Michelle R. Kubala was promoted from the ranks of lieutenant to the new chief of "C" District in the Ferry-Fillmore area.

Chief Kubala takes over for Marcia C. Scott who was named a captain in the Internal Affairs Division.

Albert J. Liberatore, also was promoted to the rank of captain, assigned to the "E" District on Bailey Avenue.

Five members were promoted to lieutenants: Officers Kimberly Beaty, Peter Kocol, Robert Joyce and Robert Sheridan plus Detective Barbara Lark.

Six police officers were promoted to the detective ranks: Molly Costantino, Joy Jermain, James Kaska, Anthony McHugh, Thomas Starkey and Kimberly Tomassi.

The promotions all become effective on November 11th.
