Stolen Statue Returned

A valuable statue that was stolen from the Italian Festival was returned Wednesday night.

Buffalo police believe the statue of Poseidon, was taken sometime Wednesday morning between 1am and 5am.

After extensive media coverage throughout the day, Buffalo police recieved a tip in connection with the whereabouts of the statue, which stands about 6 ft tall and weighs about 150 lbs.

A short time later, the two individuals who took the statue, returned it to police and festival organizers.

The organizers say they're thrilled to have the statue back and say the larger-than-life fiberglass figure was not damaged.

The statue will be located at Hertel Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue when the festival starts on Thursday, July 15th.

At this time, no charges have been filed against the two individuals who said they took the statue as a prank.
