Buffalo Police Department Make Arrest in July 1st Homicide

Buffalo police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this summer.

Police charge that Davon Scott, 18, of Cornwall Street in Buffalo shot and killed Darrell Anderson on July 1st in the 500 block of Goodyear Avenue. Ferry-Fillmore District officers had responded to the location just before 4pm, on Sunday, July 1st, and found the 30 year old victim had been shot multiple times. The victim was unresponsive and was taken to Erie County Medical Center, but was declared dead at the hospital.

Homicide Squad investigators began an immediate investigation into the shooting incident, and earlier this month had issued an alert to officers to be on the look out for Scott as a suspect in the case. Scott surrendered himself at police headquarters yesterday, along with a family member, and was charged late in the afternoon with murder in the second degree, by Detectives Jeffrey R. Weyand and Christopher F. Sterlace. Also assisting in the investigation were detectives Scott R. Malec and Patricia Wrest.

This arrest comes in large part due to the cooperation of several witnesses, who were located by district officers and the department's Strike Force
