K-9 Sniffs Out 3 Burglars

July-13-2012K-9 Sniffs Out 3 Burglars.

Thanks to Thor. one of the Buffalo police K-9 dogs, three burglars are behind bars.

The incident unfolded, Friday morning, July 13th when Police Officers Charles Gidney and Tom Beyers of the B District arrived at a vacant four-story apartment building on 15th Street and were told by residents that suspects were still inside.

The officers called for a K-9 unit and Lt. Sal Losi responded with his partner Thor.

After warning the suspects to surrender, the dog was released.

The dog cleared each of the four floors, allowing the officers to advance safely. After a few minutes, officers heard the dog barking at something on the top floor.

The officers advanced and observed the dog barking up at a trap door. With the help of Buffalo fire, officers used a ladder to open the trap door to the roof, where three suspects were hiding.

Three male teenagers were arrested and charged with burglary, trespassing and criminal mischief.

According to Lt. Losi, who oversees the K-9 Unit, the three suspects might have evaded capture had it not been for Thor.
