Police Officer and Life guard Honored for Saving Little Boy

July-12-2012 — Police Officer and Life guard Honored for Saving Little Boy.

Mayor Byron W. Brown and Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda recognized a Buffalo Police officer and a life guard who came to the rescue of a little 7 year old boy on Tuesday evening, July 10th.

The incident happened just after 5pm at the Kensington pool.

Officer Pamela Westbrook and lifeguard Kayla Witherspoon both jumped in to save the little boy, who had briefly gone under water and was struggling.

He was quickly pulled to safety by the two and did not require medical attention.

Mayor Brown honored the two with certificates of recognition.

Officer Westbrook is a 13 year veteran of the Buffalo police department who serves as a school resource officer during the school year. Witherspoon is in her third year as a city life guard.
